ABOUT THIS WEEK

Hi!! We are María and Lidia, the journalists this week, and we are going to explain what have we done in this week’s task. For the task of this week we had to create a modern comic where we had to include ten concepts that we had learnt in this six weeks. In first place, on Monday, Linda explained us the task and the different ways that we could chose to do, those were: traditional comic, modern comic, cave art, magazine cover, photo novel… Each group had to choose a different one, so the order for choosing was set randomly. We were the fifth for choosing and we decided to do the modern comic. After everything was explained and everybody had chosen a different format we started putting in common the ideas we had for the story of the comic. At the end we decided to do the story about a girl (our start this week, Kasia) who enters in her computer to fight the virus (our pet, Neón) and save all the files of her computer, for this she will need the help of all the contents we have lea...

Modern comic: modern comics appears in the 20th century. They have more complex characters and twisting plots, there are “antiheroes” and “supervillians” that differs from the typical one on the past comics. Photo novel: Photo novels are a form of sequential storytelling that uses photographs rather than illustrations for the images, along with the usual comics conventions of narrative text and word balloons containing dialogue. Superhero comic: Superhero comics are one of the most common genres of American comic books. They  are an anthology of adventure features — comic books devoted to superheros (heroic people with extraordinary or superhuman abilities and skills, or god-like powers and attributes). Concepts: a concept is an idea of something formed by mentally combining all its c haracteristics or particulars. Summary: A summary is a comprehensive and usually brief abstract, recapitulation, or c ompendium of previously stated facts or statements. R EFEREN...

REFLECTION

This week we have created a comic using 10 key concepts we have learnt in the last weeks because it was our task number 5. First of all, we put in common our opinions about which concepts were better so that we could recollect and compare them to finally get an agreement. We believed it was useful to improve our work as a team because it was possible to share different points of view. Also we practiced our critical reasoning because we had to analyze the pros and cons of all suggestions. It was a really usefulactivity due to the fact that if we initiate controlled debates in our future classes, we will be able to develop some of the higher phases od Bloom's Taxomony with students. After this little debate, the key words were chosen but we had to include all of them in a modern comic. This was the most difficult part of the task because we wanted to be creative so we didn’t want to put a class as the comic space. New technology was the answer to this problem, as in many oth...

Here I am at the faculty of education and also that time that I went to a meeting! I actually had lots of fun and learned a lot!

REFLECTION

Hello lovely readers!! It’s Neón. This week we have been working a lot, on Monday we stayed to work the whole evening. In this task we have learn a lot of things about textbooks and its contents. We have discovered that the contents in textbooks are not neutral at all; actually they are influenced by many things as the sociocultural context, the economy in the country and so on. In the exposition we learnt, thanks to the Erasmus students, how textbooks are used in a really different way in other countries, because they consider books as a complement and not as the base of education as in Spain. We have also seen how the point of view for teaching something can change from a country to another, for example in the subject of history, where is easy to see how differently conquests are told. Also the textbooks are based on the ideology of the author, so the contents can’t be neutral. Knowing all this we have seen how all this can affect to children and to society in general bec...

OUR 5TH WEEK

Image
Hi! We are Marina and Kasia and we are the journalists this week. The main topic of the presentation from task 5 was: "The dark side of textbooks’’. All of the groups had to prepare, using a fable or a poster, presentations about this topic.  After working on it, on the class of wendnesday, which started at 10:30, we listened to the other groups presentations. Our stars did our presentation and they did such a great job! everyone loved it! We got to watch the presentation of the group Empty21 . They created a very interesting fable with an owl and a fox. The owl was the smart one, with a huge bookish knowledge. The owl definitely was a representative of bookworm type. In contrast, we could see a fox which wanted to get a global knowledge, wide perspective and more experience. The group also took into account the environmental issue. Printing books is very harmful for our environment. We can’t even imagine how many trees suffer for it. Fireproofessors developed an awesome...

STAYING IN MURCIA

Image
Hi, my dearest followers! It’s Neón but unfortunately without any new adventures around the world. This week I haven’t been anywhere. The reason why I stayed in Murcia this week is because there was an election for the rector of the University, which I think is a really important act for us as students. I have take advantage of this week at home to stay  with my lovely group and observe their work. We spent a lot of time with each other discussing about books. I love reading books and my group does too but we started to ask ourselves if books were actually the best way of teaching kids the school subjects, so we did a project about the disadvantages of books in the school environment. After doing the work, we found out that books have some disadvantages that make the learning environment more difficult because books have become really obsolate in this technological era. So we have find out is that books: ·          L imitate knowledge,  ...

KEY CONCEPTS OF THIS WEEK.

Hi again my lovely readers !! To conclude this task, we have chosen five key concepts related to this week task, related with our presentation. Here they are: -          -  Projection: It is a system of graphic representation that establishes an ordered relationship between the points of the curved surface of the Earth and those of a flat surface (map). -          -  Distortion: Due to the fact that a projection changes three-dimensional reality into a two-dimensional drawing of that reality, something has to give. There will always be distortion when moving from a three-dimensional world to a two-dimensional world. -         -   Wind turbine : is a device that converts the wind's kinetic energy into electrical energy.Wind turbines are manufactured in a wide range of vertical and horizontal axis types. The smallest turbines are used for power traffic warning signs... Arrays of large turbines, ...

COMMENTING OUR CLASSMATES' WEBS AND THOUGHTS.

Hi lovely readers, today we will write about our classmates web pages. The aim of this text is to give feedback to our partners and also to learn from their experiences too. By and large, the groups have nice web pages, well organized and eye-catching. The main themes are well shown and it's really accessible the fact of searching some information. According to their experiences and feelings about the current tasks, the procedures and development of the activities are as good explained and reflected that you can feel how they worked that week with so much ease. It is also interesting for our group to learn from our classmates experiences and ways of working, so, we will keep an eye on their web pages evolution. Have a nice weekend. ^^

OUR 4th WEEK

Image
Hi lovely readers!! This week has been amazing.  First of all my group and I have worked on three different tasks. They were about map projections which were related to how a little variable in our lifes as a simple map can distort our world's perspective. Then we looked for a Treasure Hunt and we found one from an Spanish teacher about environment which was really interesting. Finally, we looked for another little variable which distorts children's realities. It was a loooong Monday but we got almost everything ready for the presentation day. Finally, Wednesday came so my group and I could enjoy many different presentations. The best thing was to observe how the same tasks had changed depending on the group. For example, some of them searched information about how many people were living in the countries they have chosen, others mentioned the capital of the country, all of them made their own version of the task and it was amazing.  As each Wednesday I was really ner...

REFLECTION OF 4TH WEEK

Hi there! Neón's again.  We had to search the three kind of map projections that exist: Mercator, Robinson and Azimuthal. With this, we could discover that there isn’t a single interpretation of the world and depending of how you represent it, the continents and the countries are bigger or smaller. Although in the past it was just a question of representing the Earth but nowadays, the size of the different nations are related to their political and economy importance. On the one hand, this is a subject that matters a lot in our future jobs, because, as teachers, we have to know which one is the best to teach children geography and politics because it is the most realible representation of the world. On the other hand, we should explain students that some sizes are distorted due to "importance" and also foster their critical thinking because they have to realize these connections by themselves in the future. After a lot of discussions, we had chosen the Robinson’s one, ...
